Abstract : We investigated the efficacy of fuel stratification in a pre-mixture of dimethyl ether (DME) and n-butane, which have different autoignition
characteristics, for reducing the pressure rise rate (PRR) of homogeneous charge compression ignition engines. A new chemical
reaction model was created by mixing DME and n-butane and compared with existing chemical reaction models to verify the effects
observed. The maximum PRR depended on the mixture ratio. When DME was charged with stratification and n-butane was charged with
homogeneity, the maximum PRR was the lowest among all the mixtures studied. Calculations were performed using CHEMKIN and
modified using SENKIN software.
