On the effective temperature and Reynolds number concept for a heated circular cylinder: commentary of the article by Baranyi et al. Z. Trávníček and A.-B. Wang*
The Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, vol. 25, no. 8, pp.1881-1884, 2011
Abstract : Baranyi et al. [1] presented an experimental and numerical study, focusing on fluid dynamics and heat transfer of a heated circular cylinder
in air cross flow. Although their paper interprets the results in a quite different manner to previous literature, their experimental
results were quite consistent in some aspects with previous data in the literature. The purpose of this commentary is to eliminate any
misunderstandings for readers of Ref. [1] and to point out that their data do reasonably confirm the effective temperature concept proposed
in the literature.
